These movement brain break cards are a fun, sensory break that gets students out of their seats for a few minutes. These 20 cards are great for the first day of school or used at some point during the first week of school. They allow for students to see what they have in common with their classmates, as a little icebreaker. There are some questions about what they did over the summer and first day of school-related questions.

The first day of school is filled with lots of information for students as you introduce rules and procedures. This brain break will reenergize students when they are looking like they need a break!

How to Play

Movement brain breaks can be played while students are at their desk or all together in front of the board.

Cut on the line to divide each sheet into 2 movement cards. Read the statement on the card. Students will perform the action when the statement applies to them or they agree. The students will remain seated if the statement doesn’t apply to them. Keep playing until you have done all the cards.
